Information for the Wayfarer Foundation
Here are some of the ways we support the work of foundations and their grantees.
EDITING & PROJECT MANAGEMENT
When the Chorus Foundation sponsored a supplement to the Stanford Social Innovation Review, they asked us to manage the project, work with the authors, edit the articles, and coordinate logistics with the SSIR team. You can read the supplement here.
We have done similar work for many others, including producing annual reports for the Mertz Gilmore Foundation, editing and designing reports for the Solidago Foundation, drafting an open letter from funders and grassroots groups to the Bezos Earth Fund, designing reports for the Solidago Foundation, ghost writing a book about sustainability for an NGO, and writing and designing a fundraising prospectus for Climate Interactive.
BRAND DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGEMENT
The Chorus Foundation had only a temporary logo and a landing page when they asked us to develop a comprehensive communications program. Since then, we have provided a full range of services: brand identity, communications strategy, graphic design, website development, copywriting, video production, project management, and media relations. We also provided communications support, including crisis communications, to a number of Chorus grantees.
The video below was an invitation from Chorus to other funders to collaborate.
DOCUMENTARY FILM & VIDEO
We have produced several films for funders to highlight the work of grantees. For example, the Mertz Gilmore Foundation asked us to make a film about the ordinary people who successfully stopped the Atlantic Coast Pipeline after six years of organizing. And in 2024 we finished a short film about the environmental racism and government disinvestment on the east side of Buffalo that organizations like Open Buffalo are addressing through their ecological justice work.
We have also produced a number of videos for grantees of the Chorus Foundation, Mertz Gilmore Foundation, and others. The Mertz Gilmore Foundation has asked us to produce videos for grantees like the Democracy Initiative (below), Citizen Action, DFAD, and the Center for Economic Reform.
The Chorus Foundation asked us to support their grantees through videos that showcase their work and the issues they are working on. The excerpt below is from a short film we made in collaboration with an Alaska Native artist about salmon on the Yukon River.
We also worked with Native Peoples Action, SalmonState, and others to raise awareness about threats to the Kuskokwim River.
And we produced this video for Citizens Action of New York to support their training program about the roots of economic inequality.
Solidaridad the global NGO that invented fair trade coffee, hired us to lead communications planning as they opened their North American division. Later, Solidaridad Central America asked us to complete a number of projects, including a short video about sustainable agriculture in Honduras. That video resulted, almost immediately, in $1.2 million of additional investment in their work/
LEADERSHIP PROFILES
We produced this short piece for the Libra Foundation in recognition of Crystal Hayling’s retirement.
THE PHILANTHROPY FILM SERIES
We are still in production with our three-episode series on best practices in philanthropy. Samples of the first two episodes are below. The third episode will be about how funders can support worker ownership, collectively owned land and housing, and other aspects of the solidarity economy. We are still fundraising to complete the series.
